Striker John Miles made a dream start on his Macclesfield debut with a goal seven minutes after coming off the substitutes’ bench in the 2-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers at Moss Rose.
Signed from Crewe Alexander on deadline day, the former Liverpool trainee came off the bench at half-time to score with virtually his first touch of the game.
Collecting an intelligent pass from Darren Dunning, he turned his marker before arrowing a low drive in to the far corner.
Moments later he found spare man Danny Whittaker who crashed home his 12th goal of the season with a powerful drive to the opposite corner.
Macclesfield manager David Moss warned however that he might not be able to make the move permanent.
He said: "We've got him until the end of the season, but Crewe might not want to let him go.
“I was however delighted with his performance. I brought him on to hold the ball upfront and was pleasantly surprised with his goal. It was even better that he then made the second." Disappointed Harriers manager Ian Britton bemoaned his side's bad habits.
He said: "As usual we let in two goals. We've got to come to places like Macclesfield and pick up points but we're just not doing it.
"We created little up front and their keeper hardly had a save to make all day. When they did carve out an opportunity their finishing was woeful.†In the 23rd minute big Drew Broughton turned neatly but could only fire straight at Silkmen keeper Steve Wilson. Then on 86 minutes with the game all but gone, substitute Ian Foster blasted a volley into the crowd from only 10 yards.
