Omer Riza kept Cambridge's hopes of promotion alive with a 67th-minute goal to earn the U's a draw against Macclesfield.
The striker raced on to a precise David Kitson 30-yard pass before rounding Steve Wilson to score his 16th goal of the season.
Riza could have stolen all three points at the death, his fierce long-range shot acrobatically tipped wide by Wilson.
Macclesfield had taken the lead through Kyle Lightbourne in the 41st minute. The former Bermudian international latched onto an intelligent nod down from strike partner John Miles before lashing home a trade mark 20-yard drive in off the underside of the cross bar.
Earlier Miles had seen an audacious twenty five yard chip float inches over the bar.
Macclesfield manager David Moss felt his keeper could have done better with Cambridge's equaliser. He said: "Steve Wilson should have dealt with that. In the modern game he should have been on the edge of the box and playing as a sweeper but he hesitated and it's another blunder from our number one." Cambridge manager John Taylor said "There was only one team who was going to win it at the end. It keeps our unbeaten run going and though getting in to the play offs will be very tough, we still have 15 points to play for."
