Newly promoted Barnet went to the top of League Two as they made it four games without defeat and left Macclesfield searching for their win after two trips to the capital.
Barnet were good value for their win and could have won by more but it was a closely fought battle.
The match was won by Nicky Bailey's 26th minute strike, his first of the season. It was a classy finish from the Bees midfielder who took advantage of a lapse in midfield to finish from a well weighted through ball from Ben Strevens.
Macclesfield almost hit back shortly before the break when Tony Barras had a header cleared off the line but Barnet continued to dominate after half-time.
Macclesfield's Dean Sinclair was the main dangerman for the Bees and the Silkmen could have conceded more goals were it not for the excellent goalkeeping of Alan Fettis.
Macclesfield manager Brian Horton ended up with a four-man forward line having sent on second half substitutes John Miles and Kevin Townson but their best chance fell to Allan Russell who blazed a clear opening over the bar from 12 yards out.
Had that effort have secured an equaliser, it would have been an unfair reflection on the match.
Both teams went for a 4-5-1 formation but Barnet, who have been playing like that all season, seemed to be more better suited to it.
They very nearly doubled their lead in the closing stages when Guiliano Grazioli was clear on goal only to fluff his shot and allow Fettis the chance to save.
The result meant it was Macclesfield's eighth away game without a win and their second defeat in London this season following on from their early loss at Leyton Orient.
