Aldershot 0-0 Macclesfield- Report

Macclesfield striker Emile Sinclair blew a golden chance to end the Silkmen's long winless run with an entry for miss of the season in a goalless draw at Aldershot.

The former Nottingham Forest youngster somehow fired wide in the 22nd minute after he rounded Aldershot goalkeeper Jamie Young but Macc, without a win since November, were good value for a point.

The Silkmen had the better of the first-half and should have been ahead through Sinclair.

He used his pace to outrun the Aldershot defence before rounding Young, but his shot towards an empty net went harmlessly wide.

Sinclair then put strike partner Tyrone Barnett through moments later but again a good chance was wasted with the shot going well wide.

Wade Small's curling effort on 35 minutes was the best chance of a lacklustre first-half for the hosts.

The Shots started much better after the break with Alex Rodman hitting a free-kick just over.

Macclesfield still looked the better of the sides and on the hour Barnett headed a half chance over from 12 yards.

Small flicked wide on 70 minutes when let free by the Silkmen's defence but the Shots struggled to build any concerted pressure.

Injury-time saw a drilled cross from Small run across the face of the six-yard box but with both sides lacking a cutting edge, the game ended goalless.
