Boston United: Drew 0-0 at King's Lynn. Earlier had come from behind to beat local rivals Boston Town 3-1. Paul Ellender, a triallist O'Halloran and Rusk getting on the scoresheet.

Cambridge United: won 0-2 at Braintree Town.

Cheltenham Town: got a good home draw 1-1 against Birmingham City after taking the lead.

Chester City: did well, beating Walsall 3-0.

Grimsby Town: earlier in the week, beat Brigg 2-3. Playing a new formation of 3-4-3, it was goals from Fleming, Parkinson and a triallist, that won the game. Before that the Mariners had drawn 5-5 at Doncaster Rovers, Mansaram, Watson, Gabbin and Kamanan were on the scoresheet for Town.

Kidderminster Town: lost 2-1 at Gloucester.

Mansfield Town: lost 0-1 to Stoke City at Field Mill. There was chaos at the end of the game as home fans were prevented from going past the North Stand towards the town centre. This was the first time that away fans had been given the North Stand at Field Mill.

Northampton Town: beat Lewes 2-3.

Notts County: Beat Bideford 2-4. Won easily 4-0 against Northwich Victoria during the week. Goals from Gill, Gordon 2, and Oakes. Earlier they had been beaten 2-1 by Derby in a behind-closed-doors game. Williams scoring for Notts.

Oxford United: drew 1-1 against the big money men from Chelsea. Tommy Mooney (sounds familiar) giving the O's the lead.

Scunthorpe: travelled to Holland for a 1-1 draw against last year's Dutch Cup Winners, F.C. Utrecht. Hayes scoring for the Iron.

Shrewsbury Town: Beat Northwich Victoria 2-3. Before that had lost at home to Peterborough United 0-1 and before that had beaten Radcliffe Borough by the same scoreline, Luke Rodgers scoring the goal.

Southend United: well beat Dr Martens Eastern League side East Thurrock United 0-7. Scorers being Gower, Corbett, Bramble, Gray 2, Husbands and an og.

Swansea City: beat Conference North side Worcester City 3-1 with goals from Oli 2 and Nugent.

Yeovil Town: were beaten by Bournemouth 2-1 after leading through a goal from Weatherstone.
