Railway News - more trouble at Macclesfield Station

Last updated : 08 July 2004 By MAD Reporter

After suffering at the start of last season, due to upgrading the line through the town, once again Macclesfield station will be hit by a lack of trains as Stockport Station is closed for track replacement. Work is expected to last until September 5th, but as with last year I wouldn't expect it to re-open on time. Remember Sir Nicholas Winterton reopening the station to no trains?!

There will be some service from the Stoke direction with trains terminating at Macclesfield, but there will be no trains heading North towards Manchester. All services from Crewe to Manchester are being diverted via the Styal Line. There will be a repeat of the replacement coach service that was so unpopular last year.

Fans who use the rail service to get to and from games should try the www. nationalrail.co.uk or www.firstnorthwestern.co.uk sites.

Silkmen Games effected:
