After several weeks speculation, Martin Carruthers departed by mutual agreement and was quickly snapped up by Boston United as they look to sort out their forward line for the coming season. Signed by David Moss at the start of last season, Martin struggled to acclimatise with the Macc long ball game, but settled in towards the end of the season. He scored 10 goals in 44 appearances for the club.

It was a 3-3 draw on Wednesday night at the Broadwood Stadium as Macc played their second pre-season friendly against Clyde of the Scottish First division. Goals from Tipton, Parkin and Morgan in a game where the lead went back and forth between the two teams.

Chris Priest is featuring in the pre-season games for Bangor City. Bangor City are currently managed by.... ex-Macc manager Peter Davenport.

Also featuring in the news is Paul O'Neil. Unable to settle at Gretna, Paul has gone on a year's loan to Northwich Victoria, who are now managed by..... ex-Silkmen Legend Steve Burr. The Vics are returning to their old, old strip of green and white hoops in an effort to boost their performances up the Conference after a very disappointing season.

Finally, news from the Barnet & Potters Bar Times, ex-Silkman Ben Sedgemore is on trial at Barnet after being released from Lincoln City. The paper reports that 29 year old Ben  has been allowed to go on Macc's pre-season tour of Scotland. Ben spent 3 years at the Moss Rose after costing £25,000 from Mansfield in 1998. Could he be returning to the club as the departure of Carruthers releases some finances?
