Barnett focused on football after new deal

Macclesfield striker Tyrone Barnett was delighted to sign a contract extension which will keep him at the club until the end of next season. Barnett only joined the Silkmen from Hednesford Town in the summer but impressed during pre-season and scored on his Football League debut against Stevenage. That persuaded Macclesfield to tie him down for a further year and he penned his new deal earlier this week. Barnett said: "With a one-year deal at first I wanted to do well enough to earn myself a longer chance, so I'm very pleased to have done that early on. "When you have one year it can be a bit restricting because it's always preying on your mind a little bit that you don't know where you will be at the end of the season. It just adds that little bit of pressure. "But now I know I have earned this extra year I don't have to think about that and can get on with just playing football."
